What Is a Neck Lift?
A neck lift, also known as platysmaplasty1, is a surgical procedure designed to rejuvenate the appearance of the neck by tightening loose muscles, removing excess fat, and excising sagging skin. This can be an ideal option for patients experiencing signs of aging in the lower face and neck region, such as jowls, vertical banding, or submental fat.
While neck lift surgery is frequently performed on its own, Dr. Hinojosa often pairs the procedure with facelift surgery to create a more comprehensive appearance in the lower face. What Is Involved in the Neck Lift Procedure?
Neck lift surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia. Dr. Hinojosa will make precise incisions, usually behind the ears and/or under the chin, to access the underlying structures. She will then remove unwanted fat (sometimes utilizing liposuction), tighten the platysma muscle, and trim away excess skin as needed.
Recovery after a neck lift usually involves some swelling and bruising, but these should gradually subside over the course of a few weeks. Most patients can return to work and light activities within about two weeks.
How Much Does a Neck Lift Cost?
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the average cost of neck lift surgery is $7,885.2 That said, please note that pricing is contingent upon the surgeon’s fee, the extent of treatment, the incorporation of other procedures, and additional factors.
