What Is an Arm Lift?

Brachioplasty is a surgical procedure designed to enhance the appearance of the upper arms. It typically involves the removal of excess skin and fat between the elbow and shoulder, addressing issues of sagging or drooping that can occur with age or significant weight loss. By tightening and smoothing the underlying supportive tissues of the arm, the procedure restores a more youthful and contoured shape. Ideal for those unhappy with arm flabbiness or skin laxity, an arm lift can significantly boost self-esteem, allowing individuals to feel more confident in their appearance and comfortable wearing short sleeves or sleeveless clothing.

While arm lift surgery can yield numerous benefits as a standalone procedure, it is often included as a part of a comprehensive post-weight loss body contouring plan to help patients who have lost a significant amount of weight address excess, sagging skin.

How Is an Arm Lift Performed?

The arm lift procedure is typically performed under general anesthesia. It involves making incisions along the inner or back of the arm, possibly extending from the elbow to the armpit, depending on the amount of excess skin being removed. Through these incisions, Dr. Hinojosa removes excess fat (sometimes using liposuction) and skin, then tightens and reshapes the underlying supportive tissue. The skin is then smoothed over the new contour of the arm, and the incisions are closed. The procedure is designed to create more toned and defined arms.

During the Brachioplasty recovery process, patients will typically wear compression sleeves. Arm movement will need to be limited to promote healing. Most non-strenuous activities can be resumed within about a week, though heavy lifting will need to be avoided for closer to 4-6 weeks.

How Much Does an Arm Lift Cost?

The cost of an arm lift starts at $9,750, depending on the complexity of the procedure. That said, the final price will need to be determined following an individual consultation with Dr. Hinojosa. Factors that can influence arm lift cost include the techniques used, whether any additional procedures are being performed simultaneously, as well as the general surgeon’s, anesthesia, and facility fees.
